At one time Covington and Newport was the biggest gambling mecca outside of Las Vegas. It all ended around the early 1960's. Trimble can give you the whole history on the place. Plus there are several good books just on that area and the characters that ran the place. Even though illegal, the gambling was pretty much wide open.
Some of the casinos were the 633 Club (Flamingo), Stardust, The Alibi Club, The Sandwich Shoppe, Glenn Schmidt's, Beverly Hills Supper Club, Kentucky Club and many more.
