NCR, BankNote of the Day...

Tonight’s banknote selection comes from the South Atlantic Falkland Islands comprised of two large islands and many smaller islands located 500 miles from Cape Horn. The Falklands are a British dependency that has been long disputed by the Argentines. This came to a head in 1982 when 50 Argentines landed on the Falklands and raised their flag, claiming it. Argentina did not declare war because they consider it a re-taking of their own land. When word reached the United Kingdom, they didn’t see it that way and sent the Royal Navy to defend it resulting in 258 British and 649 Argentine deaths. Great Britain prevailed but Argentina continues to this day to claim ownership of the Falklands.

The note is a Commemorative 1988 issue 5 pound note commemorating 150 years of British rule. Front) Notation of 150th Anniversary of English rule. Queen Elizabeth at right Penguins at left Arms at center (Back) Governor’s Home and Church. No security thread or watermark. This note is in UNCirculated condition and has a book value of $30. ENJOY!
