I never met Greg, talked with him or traded with him. Everything I knew about his was from the posts he made here and replies he got.
The most obvious thing I could tell was how much he was liked and respected by everyone who posts here. I can't remember anyone ever saying anything negative about him (except in fun), nor he ever posting anything bad.
When I started collecting around 10 years ago I stumbled into the board...and have read it almost everyday since then. It's really part of a daily routine, probably like it is for most of you.
This past year I kept thinking, "I really should offer to send him some chips or make a donation" for all the pleasure I get from this board...I just never got around to it, and now it's too late.

I was thinking of the things that have really helped this hobby. The club, the convention, books like TCR and Black's. But when I think about it, I really feel that having this board, in total over the last 15 years, is probably the single most positive things that has helped this hobby. All the information that flows here helps so many people, the offers, the trades & sales. The background on unknown chips, the history that is shared. New issues, the advice. And while many people have helped (and contributed) is was really the dedication and vision of Greg that got it started and kept it going. I can't imagine how much time and effort it must have taken, he must have really loved doing it.

I haven't followed who has picked up maintaining this wonderful place, but I hope that it stays around for all the newbies like me who really got so much from this man's generosity.
