Good Morning everybody. I just wanted to follow up on your chips a bit Dennis and how we arrived with the ID of Newport Harbor Yacht Club. There are two things on the hot stamp that allowed for this ID. The first thing is the NHYC with the YC designating Yacht Club. As usual I was playing poker on line on my desk top while watching the posts here on my lap top and I took a wild guess with the New Hampshire Yacht Club. The second thing is the triangular shaped flag on the chip that is called a Burgee. Burgees are a maritime flag that are used to easily identify ships and yachts at sea, and also a yacht club affiliation. Each has it's own unique markings. The "H in circle" burgee on your chip does match with the Newport Harbor Yacht Club as shown on their web site. I am fairly certain that the ID is accurate.
I have posted their burgee and also scans of two famous classic old poker chips that display burgees. They should be fairly easy to ID with a couple of hints. The Yellow chip is from a yacht that was actually named BURGEE. The red chip is Cuban.
