General Question for Chipboard Readers

Do enough collectors really CARE about minor/moderate variations enough to go through this process with their chips?
I'm not even talking about UV variations which are a Pandora's Box better left unopened at present.
If you only have one of a particular chip, which is probably the case in a vast majority of collections, it is extremely difficult to determine which chip you have. When you have several of the chips and can evaluate them side-by-side it sometimes becomes very obvious what the differences are.
Opinions? Comments?
Gene, I know you have more pressing issues at present so I'll save you the time and effort of typing this:
