Battle Mountain was BAD! The Hotel Nevada restaurant had a sign saying they would reopen when times got better. The windows leaked in the Owl Club restaurant!
Winnemucca was in much better shape. Played BJ at the Winners Inn. Same old chips from a thousand years ago! Lovelock was awful! Hawthorne about the same! Tonopah about the same!
We saw beuatiful lands, great mountains. Walker Lake looked low.
Austin was strange too. 300 people and the town actually looked like it was in retrograde. The Pizza parlor was open but dark and dingy, the restauranrt we ate at was open, ugly and over priced! Rock shop was nice! $40 for an Overland Bar ashtray! NOT! Great scenery, pretty bad economics. Landed some nice TRAYS at a pawn shop in Hawhtorne.
Other than that spending time away form the bright lights of LV was good. AND of ocurse being alone with the lovely Christine wasn't bad either! Weather was OK most of the time! Defintely cooler than LV! Hope to see many of you Tuesday at the SNCCC meeting at the Leatherneck Club!
