The reason I ask is because I just bought one at a garage sale this past weekend for $15! Its almost identical to the one pictured except the slots where the ball falls is green all the way around.

It is 18" overall O.D. with a 10" wheel. It was a little beat up on, and close to the race (I think the last owner let his kids use a ball bearing for a ball). There are a few paint chips too but I've got the wood already sanded down to 1200 and I'm unsure about what I should do about the paint chips - painting is not a strong suit for me.

I wonder if anyone knows what type of varnish is used (if any at all) or if its just finished with linseed oil
