Proving a theory wrong - chips in lucite

I'm trying to prove a the theory that chips could be removed from being embedded in Lucite.

I did a Google search and found out that acetone could "melt" the Lucite away. This process works with coins so I wanted to see what it would do to chips.

So I grabbed a couple "non perfect chips" from my collection (one Chipco and one Paul-son) to see what would happen to the chips. The image below shows the before and after images of chips soaking in acetone for only 36 hours.

The Paul-son chip also felt rubbery and I'm sure I could have broke it half if I wanted to. I'm thinking if I would soak the Chipco another 48 hours I could clean the image right off (notice the grime didn't come off).

Also, the UV markers are being erased off the chips. With the Chipco UV Markers they are almost unreadable while the Hat and Cane UV Marker has lost a lot of the features (looks more like a UV Blob).

I'm going to let the chips sit for a few days and I will soak them again to see the next level of damage.

So to bust the first Myth....Don't use acetone on embedded chips....you might not like to final results.
