How many times have you heard the oft used phrase that "it's only worth what someone will pay for it?"

If I purchased a seldom seen chip on for $100 and hypothetically sold it to a customer who offered to pay $200 for it ... what is the true value of the chip? Many such private transactions held behind the scenes happen quite frequently.
