I have many "unknowns" in my collection that I "believe-to-be" or might "possibly" be from a particular place. Such chips remain "unknowns".

Circumstantial evidence should have at least two and preferably three piece of evidence. "Joe says so" is not enough, especially if Joe did not work for or own the place.
