I've placed what I thought were fair bids on items when they originally appeared on ebay ... only to find out that SEVERAL underbidders (including me) received "2nd Chance Offers" at less than my "2nd chance" bid ... which leads me to believe that the person who actually won the original item paid far too much for his. (he/she could have gotten it for much less had he/she not put in the highest bid, thereby driving the price up).

Another consideration; ... those who put an emphasis on how much a particular item was purchased on ebay ... have NO idea how many of the same items were subsequently offered for sale by the seller as "2nd chance" opportunities at much lower prices. "2nd chance" offers might have been sent to EVERY ONE who submitted a bid on that particular item.
