Archie, you've been to my house in Vegas (roughly Tropicana @ Ft. Apache). While it is NOT within the Las Vegas city limits, we use "Las Vegas" in the mailing address, while the Post Office had the ZIP Code recorded to Pahrump (and the servicing Post Office was at Spring Mountain and Jones!).

But Vegas is not alone in this practice. Being from the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, there are quite a few "postal districts" within Los Angeles city limits that give the appearance of being Incorporated Citys and Incorporated Citys that appear to be part of Los Angeles city!

All very confusing. Perhaps it's a "job security" matter for someone, somewhere.
