Have you tried ebay and/or Craig's list for cartridges? I've been buying used printers just for the expensive cartridges.

Plus, Staples is currently paying $3 each for used cartridges (up to 10 per month). They send a check every month that is treated the same as a cash sale and is redeemable against ANY store purchases.
