Too much for me to explain here, but see "Islamic Welfare Party" pertainng to approx. 80 casinos being shut down in late-1997, in the Ankara area.

Not too many of those 80 casinos' chips are in collections.

What happend to them is anyone's guess; but I would assume destroyed.

I was invited to the Istanbul Hilton many years ago on an all-paid expense junket-type deal, but got on the wrong plane and ended up in Algiers where I was forced to surrender my passport (...had a ball, though ).
