Home from NOLA- NCR

Hello all my chipper friends! For those of you at the convention I am sorry I missed you. Been in New Orleans since last Friday working with Habitat for Humanity. (Pics coming soon) Spent seven of the hottest days of my life with 30 students who busted the behinds no matter what was asked, and how hot it got. The temperatures in NOLA set record highs two days in a row, and they never complained. Did I mention we were tent camping the entire time. The people from Habitat for Humanity in St. Tammany Parrish are amazing as were all of the Americorps volunteers we worked with. Ladies and Gents I do not get on the soap box on here often, but I am sure most of us live near a Habitat for Humanity affiliate, it is an amazing organization that does amazing things for people in need. If you have the time or the skills I highly recommend spending a day volunteering. I know my students learned alot about just how privlidged they are, and how easy it is to make a difference. One lady we worked with is getting ready to move into her Habitat house, and she called our kids "her heros". Anyway sorry this is so long, but I had to brag about my students. 30 kids, done and graduated from high school, giving up 10 days to drive to NOLA, camp in the heat, get attacked by ants and mosquitos, work until near exaustion, and never stop smiling while the whole time. Just think about these kids the next time some punk does something stupid. Thanks for reading
