We usually always stay at the Mineral Palace. It's currently the biggest in Dwood and Rich Turbiville is the manager. He used to run the Gold Dust complex and finally got sh*t full of that operation. When he changed jobs he took most of his trusted help with him to the MP. I think it is the friendliset operation of the large places. He is into customer satisfaction.

First Gold is OK but their food and rooms suck.

Silverado owns the Franklin now. Did a beautiful job of remodeling the first level but their rooms are like an old game lodge. No change since Bill Walsh bought the place before gaming. Silverado is a strange place and their buffet is horrid.

Four Aces has the best buffet but it's still a buffet. Rooms are a Hampton Inn and are nice.

Gold Dust Holiday Inn Express is well, a Holiday Inn Express. Rooms are OK but no valet parking although they provide free parking at the city owned parking ramp but it's a long walk down a dark alley to a poorly lit facility.

THere are lots of other places to stay and a visit to Dwood is well worth your time.

OH, BTW, avoid the promotional weekends, such as Sturgis Bike Week, Days of '76 and Cool Deadwood Nights.If you can get reservations it is OK for Cool Deadwood nights as it is a car show that keeps getting bigger and bigger but rooms are expensive for all these events especially Sturgis Bike weeks (3-800.00)

Wait til after the tourist season...Late September and into October. It's beautiful.
