The Chip Board Archive 19

NCR--Harold Sr.

So I get home from work tonight, my hubby and I are talking and I mention Harold Smith. Hubby says "Whatever happened to that card he wrote, that we bought?" Huh? Card? What?

To shorten the story vbg , after a little thinking and a little digging I found a small basket of stuff that we bought on our last trip to Nevada...in 2007!!

No chips in the basket, obviously they got put away, but there were a couple of nice ashtrays...some dice (one pair, valued $300+, from an old Westside club, that I could have used in the "West Side Story" article! sad bummer that I forgot all about 'em!), enough free drink coupons to get drunk for a week rofl , a program from the Casino de Paris club at Lake Tahoe (1952-1957), fun books, a few postcards....etc... grin It was a lot of fun re-discovering our treasures!

The card that started it all...
The envelope was postmarked 12-3-1961, Honolulu, Hawaii; addressed to Mrs Esther Steven (Stevens? Stevenson?), Harolds Club, Reno, Nevada; the stamp was torn off.

Inside:
Dear Esther,
I am enjoying a much needed rest.
I forced myself to come over here and rest, with about three thousand miles of water between the islands and the main land, I must stay and rest.
I'm with you, Happy winnings,
Harold Sr.

Isn't that cool... grin
