Your points are well taken, Don...

...we thought long and hard weather to go with assumptions or not. We decided that in this type of instance, where we "know" (ie: assume) that a certain table/color combination was made, even though it might not have appeared in previous editions of the guide books or be "known" in collections, we should include the chip. It's a similar decision such as James made in his book with the $100 Sands arodie... he "knew" that it was at one time in existence due to an image of it on an old Sands glass, but no one has actually seen the chip.

We occasionally have to take a leap. With the Harold's Club H-molds that you mention, just about all tables and colors are available by the bucket-full. If a certain table/color combination is unknown, it's likely that if and when it does become known it too will appear in great quantity. It's that leap that led me to value some unknown colors at the same level as those that are known. Of course, if a singleton shows up and nothing more, we will revalue that one.

As for your generalization that we should be retaining the single chip listings for the older and valuable series, we agree totally. We made that decision early on and will not be collapsing series such as the Harrah's Sultans into tables.
