They sold Mint ashtrays in some dutch auctions on ebay a few years ago for around $10 each. They included one or two matchbooks with each tray. One of the collectors that bought one complained, then the sellers contacted everyone who bought one and offered to void the auctions that weren't paid for yet, or refunds to anyone that had already paid.

We bought one, and we kept it, but I haven't a clue what box it might be in so can't scan it. I probably left the matchbook(s) with the tray.

The seller hadn't set out to deceive anyone, and made it very clear in future auctions that this was a new creation commemorating something old. I think he might have done one or two other casinos too...but I'm not sure.
