Quickest way to scan chips?

All,

What is the quickest way people have found to scan a bunch of chips individually? I know some people scan a page at a time and then make copies of the scan and crop each chip. I don't like this method.

Some scanners will attempt to create individual scans if it can clearly detect multiple individual objects. Has anyone gotten this to work well with 3d objects like chips? Mine are always skewed.

What other ways have people found? Is there a software solution I am ignorant of?

Thanks for any ideas!

Bryan
