Re: 3 ring binders
In Response To: 3 ring binders ()

I have never used a binder thicker than 3" because of the weight, John. Can you lift a 6" thick binder full of chips? with one hand?

For my larger collections, like manufacturer samples, I use 3" thick "post binders". The best I have found are a SpringPost® Itoya product. These have 3 posts in place of rings, and the fixed hollow posts accept the removable solid posts. A latch at the front releases the removable portion. This way you don't have to turn plastic pages that don't really want to slide on normal notebook rings but can still easily add or remove pages one at a time. These are not cheap, though still less expensive than dumbbells for exercise [g].

I just occurred to me that I use 30 pocket pages with no cardboard chip holders so I likely have 50% more the chips per page than collectors that use 20 pocket pages and consequently more weight.
