I can only speak for myself and relate my 1st convention, which was 2 years ago, and being from the east coast I didn't know many people. I got there early, attended the early bird banquet (good food and great people; had a blast!), didn't really attend the trade sessions because I didn't have much to trade (or so I thought) and met a bunch of great people!
Went to the educational seiminars and met some more great people and had a blast. Volunteered at the front tables (highly recommend it as you emeet some great people) where I was wowed by all the people and chips to be viewed and had on the convention floor. Met some more great people (still have a few to meet, tho) and had a blast rummaging around, wheelin' and dealin' and of course droolin'. Then on day 2, I repeated the volunteer thing, met more people, wheeled and dealed some more then went to the Poker tourney and met the sharks. Day 3 was, you guessed it, more of Day 1 and Day 2 only better as I saw people I had already met.
I hope you get the theme here, meeting great people, having fun and seeing some really great chips that hopefully some day I will acquire.
Anyway, year 2 was , you even better than year 1. I hope I can top year 2 this year.
Find the newly transplanted SplashBar and intriduce yourself. They might actually buy you a beer!
Anyway, maybe we run into each other.

Steve Lane
