NCR...Wall Street Journal Readers..An Odd Request

I have a friend that is dwindling away due to a terminal illness. He was and still is a voracious reader. As this progresses he is rereading alot of the stuff that impressed him during his life.

I have found much for him.

Now he is asking for an editorial piece from the WSJ from back in the early 1980's. Do you remember the "Valley Girls?"

There was an editorial writer for the WSJ that wrote a piece that he entitled, "My life as a Pal to the Val Gals." I remember the article vividly and I am sure I still have it somewhere but we just moved and everything is not sorted out and put where it should be.

The writer had these two Val Gals as interns or editorial assistants. He was pretty old and appreciated femine beauty and he detailed the differences between the two "Val Gals." He told all about them and how he and his wife helped these young "Val Gals" to cope with their young lives.

At the end he made a statement in reference to the two I still remember today and that was...

"All that movement on the ground is worth alot of gazing at the stars."

I requested it from the WSJ and they sent me a form letter.

I know many of you are excellent at searching the www.

I'd love to get this for him before the bitter end.

Thanks for any help.

Mark
