The history is correct. I've used one when I was a kid on grandpa's farm (no running water). Also called a chamber pot or thunder pot or, if you are French, pot de chambre.

Of course, the marking on the chip is a double entendre. Jackpot (which you are shy if you haven't ante'd yet) vs. Chamberpot (what it looks like).
