... was that upon each visit one would present a player's card to the promotion booth and you were awarded points depending upon your zip code ... and Trop would mail out statements to the account holders every month or two with the number of points accumulated. The further one travelled to get to Trop, the more points were awarded. The player's card illustrated below is actually my brother-in-law's Trop card. Note the relatively low number. Unfortunately, I don't believe these cards were inserted into a machine. I recall slot attendants coming around and requesting cards to record player activity. Brenda and I didn't keep our cards.... which were not as popular a collectible as they are today.
At Sands; before they had players cards, one would accumulate Red Carpet coupons that were dispensed from the machines which then would be redeemed by the player and traded in for comps such as hotel rooms, meals, show tix, etc.
At Playboy ... an aluminum token was automatically dispensed into the coin hopper after so many coins were played. These tokens were traded in for complimentaries.
