Ronnie, Players had credit player ID cardsas far back as the late 1960's. If the player had a line of credit he would present his card at the table, the floor would call the cage and see how much was left on his line, he would get the requested amount in chips and then sign the marker. In the mid 1970's the cards were embossed in some places and the markers were stamped just like a credit card. I think the Desert Inn was the first place I saw this around 1974. Caesars identified the top tier players with a Caesars Gold Card, I've actually seen two of them, but never owned one. Jim Gillette had several different cards he collected over the years.
