Re: Plantation Club Chip ID
In Response To: Re: Plantation Club Chip ID ()

The Cuban connection is interesting. I believe the story goes that whoever owned the Christiana in Sun Valley also had a piece of one of the Cuban joints. He used some of the Sun Valley roulettes in Cuba. This is somewhat similar to the CC chesterfield c&s also being used at the Nevada Club.

I never attributed them to Cuba as I never had firm confirmation on the story.

I have 9 colors of Christiana ( http://www.oldpokerchips.com/idaho1.htm ). There are at least 10 colors. I'm missing lavender. Of course there may still be even more colors we don't know of.

Question: Why does only the orange have a knurled (reeded) edge? Am I just missing all other colors with a knurled edge? Was the orange used for another purpose? Obviously the knured chips were easy to spot (even with your eyes closed). Maybe they were used as a high denomination chips.

The chips probably deserve a lengthy article (ala Gene's 5 part Arrowhead series)
