Eisenhower Poker Chip Set

I have been in contact with the folks on the "Chip Talk" site about this set. I know alot of you are probably "over this", but, the owner has asked that we now move on selling this set asap. We are discussing putting it on ebay, and that is most likely what will take place. We are in the process of moving, so, I maybe out of touch with all until next Monday, possibly sooner, with the internet people here, hard to tell?
Here's one of the last posts made on their site about all of this.

Re: TR King Presidential Set
Good Evening, I sent this email out today, and thought I would share it with everyone here. If anyone wishes to contact me, my email addy for this is:

manateekeyslanding@yahoo.com

I will be glad to give out my phone number to anyone regarding this set, as well.

Here's the response that I sent to an email:

Again, I AN NOT THE OWNER of this set of chips that were made for President Eisenhower. I did research the set for about 8 months a couple of years ago and talked to I believe it was Dennis O'Neil's brother, Glenn. (1/8/07) ( Dennis, I believe,T.R. King owner before it closed the doors)

I was referred to Charlie Endy, I believe Paul's son, and spoke with him over the phone about that very same time. (1/8/07) Charlie was with "Blue Chip Too", at this time, I believe he owned this company. Charlie was employed at T. R. King, I think during his "high school days", and remembers personally making the set of chips we are talking about. There were some "over-runs" on some of the chips, and he remembers some of these being "handed out", but, would not, or, could not remember to whom.

Now, T. R. King did make another "Presidential Set" of chips for Truman, and this set, made in 1949, 800 chips, is located in his "Presidential Library." (200 white, 200 royal blue, 200 red, 200 yellow) I spoke with these people on the phone, as well, during this same time of "researching."

I also spoke with the historian at the "Eisenhower Library" during this same time frame and he was not aware of this set of chips. I did send him the "pictures and info" on the set that I had at the time. He was quite impressed with the set, but, they did not have available funding to purchase it. Most everything, I am told, is donated to such libraries.

Pictures were sent to the "United States Herald Society", and they have verified the "Presidential Coat of Arms" on both sides of this set of chips.

Since doing this research, I pretty much passed it on to the "owner" of the set and told him to let me know if he wanted to pursue selling it again at a later date. I spoke with him last week, and he said, "let's sell it", it would be nice for someone to buy this set and somehow make it available for all to see. It has been "well cared for", and is in the "original case made by T. R. King in 1949."

The "owner" of this set is a very private person, and keeps very busy with his personal daily activities. I have known him for about 4 years, and have found him to be a wonderful, caring person. He can tell whoever, anything about the set, from the time it arrived on the "Columbine" to where it presently is located. He is the "real deal", and is the "OWNER" of this set of chips.

We have had alot of people inquire about buying one chip, one of each color, etc. He WILL NOT "break" the set, it will be sold only as a "complete set of 500 chips." It is a beautiful set of chips, and the case is in great condition, as well.

We have thought about "Ebay", regarding this set, and have not ruled that out as an option, at this time. The main issue is that he is by no means "selling the set" because of finances. He is wanting it to be made available for sale, but, it can sit where it has as he is not going to just "give it away" for the sake of selling it.

I hope this helps answer some of the questions about this set, and, no, I have not read "Chip Talk" regarding this in quite sometime until a couple of hours ago. Please feel free to pass this email on to whoever you so wish.

Anyone interested in the "sale of this set" can contact me at anytime and I will do my best to answer any of their questions. Also, it can be "personally viewed", by any "serious buyers" if they wish to make an appointment to come to Florida. This would have to be an appointment agreed upon by the owner of the set. Because it is located in a "bank vault", it would have to be during "business hours", and Monday thru Friday only.

Again, thanks so much for taking your time to contact me, and hope we can find someone who can appreciate what this set is all about. I am sending you the "best" pics that I have of the set, I hope they are satisfactory.

Sincerely,

Dave
