I've personally cashed an "expired" ticket at the Orleans. I've asked the cage manager at the Palms if they would cash an "expired" ticket and been told yes.
The slot machines and redemption machines won't take the "expired" ticket, but a human can approve the redemption.
Having said that, I wouldn't take any chances with a ticket for a significant amount.
