When the club decided to run a raffle to raise funds, I contacted Jim who was given, by both my wife and I, over $700.00 in quality chips for the raffle. I did not believe it was necessary to post our names in conjunction with the gift. In fact I personally do not like the policy but kept silent when my name (but not my wife's name) was posted upon a list constucted by Jim.
It is my personal belief any type of "giving" is a personal matter and not something that should be advertised and/or promoted while using peer pressure through disclosure to raise more funds.I am aware this is not the intention of the club but this is how it comes across to me. If I thought it was the club's intention to use pressure tactics I would not have originally donated to the raffle. Doug, please take a moment and think about what I have written. If it appears this way to me, I'm sure other members feel the same way. There is nothing wrong with fund raising but let's use "good taste" rather than list the givers and make others feel guilty for not giving because of whatever reason they can't.
Thanks for reading,
Perlowski
