BROADWAY/PRIORY - Operating shortly after WWII (c1948) on, the Broadway Club in Bedford (30 miles N of London) had table games prior to official 'regulation' in the UK. A name change to the Priory Club brought two more denoms around 1950.
In those days, following regulation, an establishment would apply to a local magistrate for a gaming license, either 'unrestricted' or for specific occasions only. For a further 3 years this place continued to run under the belief a license had been issued. Apparently it had not and c1953 they were raided and closed down. To my knowledge no chips have previously been recorded.
These I have came from someone who actually gambled there at the time. He had them in his drawer for the past 53 years
Arguably these could be classified as 'illegals' although one could equally argue that any UK chips pre 1950 were from unlicensed premises anyway.
I only have a few of some chips and I doubt any others exist. (In fact only 42 chips total were ever found) Strictly first come first served. Email me if interested. All prices include shipping:

Golden Horseshoe, London (subsequently Ladbrokes/Gala)

Leading Leisure Casinos is SOLD

Stakis £2 is still supposedly a current chip although I have no idea what locations its in seeing as Stakis was taken over by Gala 5 years ago
These are $10 shipped.

Stanley £25 is theoretically still a live chip as UK chips dont become obsolete unless someone ceases trading. The guy I got them from said they wouldnt cash them for him. He 'ate' them
I was told I'd get them cashed if I cause enough fuss. Not worth the hassle for me, I rely on these guys too much to find things for me, so, they are available at $12 shipped.
=================================
Newton's Casino in Torquay, UK operated from 1965 to 1992 and produced a nice range of chips. I
All prices shown are shipped.
The £1 jockey mold with 2 inserts is an error chip, only a half dozen were found.
These are NOT a recent discovery. This is part of the original batch bought when the casino closed and of which the vast majority (over 3,000) were destroyed as they were too poor. Less than 20 each of some of the clay chips are known.

I only have a couple of some of these left. Hotstamps are well worn but are visible and better than shown on the scan.
I can do a set of 13 (one of each except the £1 error for $65 shipped) or singles as priced on the scan.
All the plaques are long gone.

Email me if interested in any of these.
