CHALLENGER OF THE DAY....NCR
In Response To: HOTROD OF THE DAY....NCR ()

Factory-built drag race cars, not unlike the 1968 Hemi Cuda or Dart (only 50 of each made). Introduced at the NHRA Mile-High Nationals last year, only 100 to be made. You have to pretty much prove to Chrysler that you are a racer and intend on using the car for racing before they'll accept an application to order one for purchase. ...they aren't making them to see 6 actually have track time in real competition while the other 94 to end up on the auction block in Scottsdale.

The details:

The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak is a 100% pure bread race car. It can never be licensed or driven on the street (legally). The vehicle features many changes from the production line including:

No body sealer, sound deadener, undercoating
No windshield wipers
No HVAC controls, wiring, or controls
No rear seats
No power steering
No heat shields
No exhaust system
Composite liftoff hood
Lightweight drag race front brakes
Lightweight front fascia
Electric fan with lightweight cooling module
Revised engine position
Lightweight side windows and lightened lifting mechanism
Engine options: 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi or 5.9 Magnum

That means it's 1000 pounds lighter than the Challenger SRT8 that it is modeled after!

I want one! But, given that my 20-year-old Isuzu has 176k miles on it, I'd be happy with a new Kia Rio right now! grin
