We are trying to get rid of our house phone and just use the cell phones for communications. The problem is that I am a part time realtor and need to be able to fax papers to the other brokers. Now when I fax to a long distance number ATT sends me a bill for about $15 since our long distance service is on the cell phones and ihave to pay their set up charge. What is the best way to do eliminate this charge and our house phones? Scan and use email for everything? Get a fax/scanner and set up a fax service on the computer? Does anyone really use faxes very much any more? I need a new cell phone anyway so if I do need to fax something is there a way to hook up a new model cell phone to the computer to send a fax? I am sooooo confused. How about that $20 per year service where you plug a chip into your computer and they give you phone service? I know I would have to keep a computer on all the time but I do have an old one laying around that I could dedicate to it. If I need a fax/scanner what is a good, inexpensive one to buy? I love my 5 year old scanner since it does great with all colors and would hate to get rid of it.
