NCR: Dogs with seizures advice

Our going-on 8 year-old Sheltie, "Sparky" has been on a daily potassium bromide medication for seizures since he was a small puppy. Sparky has been seizure-free for over seven years .... until about a month ago.

Over the past several weeks, Sparky has had four seizures, all of them in the early morning hours (after midnight to 3 a.m.). The interval between the first and second seizure was a week apart. The third one was 5 days later. The latest one was 3 days later, this morning, at 1:30 a.m. All of these four seizures have been for a duration of five minutes. Sparky has been to the vet several times now and his medication has been increased. Was wondering if any other dog owners have experienced this problem with their pets and if it got any better ... or progressively worse? It's very frightening to watch and there is nothing anyone can do but to keep the animal from hurting himself during his thrashing about. Is this a terminal condition?

This message board has served as a warehouse of infomration on various subjects. Looking for some layman's advice with this experience.
