I am a cheap SOB so I just wait for the sales and buy the cheapest one available. I think I paid under $400 for both of our laptops. My wife's 2004 laptop is so slow now that just today I was looking to expand the 256 Meg memory. That should speed it back up. For the surfing we do these cheap models work just fine.
