In December 1959 my flight to Germany stopped at Goose Bay to refuel for the flight across the Big Pond. All I remember is that it was very dark and very cold - they did let us deplane and go into the terminal to stretch our legs. We were flying in and old four engine Connie - we were supposed to stop again in Ireland to refuel but they said they had had good tail winds and we would fly straight on through to Frankfort - being new to flying it made me pretty nervous.
I really like the old military chips - the Goose Chips a great looking examples - great condition too.
