After another 4 years of purple haze, the designers must have been burnt out. Hilton has shown up in 1970, given them one last chance to get creative, but in their stupor they merely change the mold to 'Hilton', and change the casino name to 'Flamingo Hilton'. Chip/inlay colors and the rendering of the pink bird stay the same. In frustration, Hilton management execs fire the designers, keep the purple haze all to themselves, and declare that the era of purple $.50 chips is over at the Flamingo. A hauntingly similar chain of events has also played out at the International, but that story will have to wait a few weeks until we reach that point in alphabetical order.
Still a pretty nice chip...
