I found this 50C Turf Club chip at a show in Las Vegas. I bought it from a dealer that is from the Reno area. He said he got about 60 chips from someone who worked at the Turf Club. After some research I found a Nevada Turf Club that was open from 1946-1956 that had table games. At least I am sure that the Nevada Turf Club did have tables. The chips do show some wear which confirms that they have been used. I also got a postcard from the Nevada Turf Club from the same dealer.
Now the not so good. I have spoken to a respected member of the club (I don't want to mention his name. If he wants to he can post it in this thread). Anyway, this member says he did have some dealings with the person I from whom I bought the chips. He said his dealings were not so good and he didn't trust the person. I fell that anyone interested in the chips should know the whole story. I did not get any bad vibes from the dealer and he did deliver as promised for the price he quoted.
This chip is not currently in any of the books (TCR and Chip Guide). This may be a new find but since I didn't get the chips first hand, I can't confirm the attribution. I have no reason not to believe the dealer I bought them from.
The chips are hot stamped, green, smkey with 3 red inserts. There is some wear on all of the hot stamps but they are very legible.
For anyone interested in the chips I will sell them for $15 each including S/H. I believe that is a reasonable price for the chips.
If anyone knows anything else about these chips, please let me know and post it so everyone can see it.
Please email me directly so as not to clutter the Board.
