$20 Chip of the Day - Dunes 16th Issue

Up today is the 16th Issue of the Dunes:

As I stated yesterday, the Dunes 16th issue is one of the casinos where I have one of each denomination produced. They are the Baccarat chips most frequently listed on eBay bar none, and you can usually put a set together ($5 - $5,000) easily for less than $100 in New condition-- making it an attainable goal for many collectors. In the past several months I have seen several of the $25,000 chips come up for auction as well, and have seen them go for significantly less than book value, bringing the entire baccarat issue within the reach of many. Don't let the relative ease by which you can obtain them dissuade you, however-- they are great looking chips.

There are two other Dunes $20s that I can see listed in the latest edition of "The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide"-- the oversized 15th "Sultan, Camel & Harem Girl" issue, and the 1/4 pie 11th issue (which is a thing of beauty to see). The Chip Rack also lists a Maroon $20 'Poker Room' chip. Late last year I was the highest bidder on a notched example of the 15th issue (but failed to meet the reserve price), and the one 11th issue I have seen come up for auction was unobtainable as well. I have never seen an example of the poker room chip (although the Chip Rack value does suggest that it would be more obtainable). If anyone has examples or pictures to post of these show-piece chips-- please do so and let me and the rest of us salivate and be jealous. vbg

P.S. Not to sound like a broken record, but I am always in the market for $20 chips from Nevada that I don't have (which usually means small towns at this point, but feel free to contact me with anything). If you have any $20s that could use a good home, please contact me. Thanks for all of the e-mails so far.

P.P.S. BTW, the Bicentennial token at the bottom of this post is also from the Dunes. grin
