During my Coast Guard days....
my ship made a port call into St. Pierre for some R&R after bouncing around in the North Atlantic in heavy winter weather. The port was crawling with Russian trawlers. Never saw so many antennas on a fishing boat. One proviso to our visit was that there would be no radio transmissions while docked. St. Pierre was my first experience with 'WC's'. After some heavy drinking in one of the bars I had to use the 'WC' and all I found was a hole in the floor. Of course I had to ask if I was in the right place and got a big laugh from the fishermen with whom we were drinking. The Islands are in the middle of nowhere in the North Atlantic that are French owned and partially inhabited by fishermen from around the world.
