Truthfully, if they did let GM and Chrysler collapse it wouldn't cure much.
With the exception of the Jaguar I drive, I have never owned a foreign made vehicle and still yet, I also drive a Ford van. The Jag was kind of a present to myself and I rarely drive it anyway
The problem with the automobile industry is twofold imho. Part of it is the government never imposing stong enough tarrifs on these foreign makes
The other half is the complacincy of American auto manufacturers to build a better car. The handwriting was on the wall from the beginning.
They have now just awakened over the last 10 years but have as a result lost 2 generations of auto buyers.
What is it they say, it takes years to make a customer and only minutes to lose one
