Corporate America can no longer see any farther that next quarters profits! For instance, one company in the "widget" manufacturing sector outsources their production to a third-world country and gains a competitive advantage. Pretty soon all the rest of the widget manufacturers follow suit one by one or face extinction. Very sad state of affairs which I don't see getting any better anytime soon!
