"a well known movie critic in his younger days"
He was a well known movie critic up to the day he passed away. His name was John "Dead Money" Harkness. I first met John at BARGE in 1998. Below is a picture of the final table, no limit hold'em event, at the 1999 BARGE. John is at the top of the table & I am standing behind him looking over his shoulder. I'm the one wearing sunglasses in the tan shirt. John won the tournament. John also placed 4th in the 2007 WSOP 7-Stud Hi Lo event & won $47K. He passed away in December, 2007.
The two BARGE chips are from the 2000 set we had made. The first year that we formed the BARGE Chip Committee. Click the link below to see the entire set. John had the other chips because he worked as a technical advisor for the series Tilt, which was filmed in a hugh warehouse in Toronto.

The link below is to an article about John after he passed away. You'll read how he came into his money. He did not live long enough to really enjoy it though. Andy - Las Vegas
