(Wanted to start this here instead of it being lost in the post about nominations.}
So why do we do the same old paper thing then?
I assume that the secretary or someone on the BOD has a list of all email addresses of members right? So why are we not sending out nomination forms and /ballots by email then? I am not talking reminders...I am talking about actual forms. I am talking about actual ballots. Sure,there are some/a few members who do not have computers but I would suspect that those are far and few. On your renewal form make the form state that you must register your email address. The same as when you are appling online for certain services...some spaces MUST be filled in to continue. Not easy maybe but it can be done.
I assume that the ballots and forms are sent out with the mag correct? If they are...I am sure that I have seen them in my almost two years but obviously I have ignored them or I would have remembered. I would be more interested in the magazine to be honest. Sure,I would have maybe glanced at the form/ballot,but I would put it down and probably forget about it so that I could get into the mag and once that mag is read...oops...goodbye form. BUT....send me a form/ballot in my email with small lines or blocks or boxes or whatever to fill out, and I would most likely at least read it and make an effort to fill it out.
In this day and age where people have so many things on their minds,I think that if you make it easier for members to participate online,then you will most likely get more co operation and interest.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS PART THE WRONG WAY....it is only a suggestion
I hate to say this because I love the magazine,but I can envision the time when the whole mag is done on the net only. Subscription only. Think of the money(postage and printing) we could save as a club, and perhaps think of the money we could make if we offered the mag on an internet subscription basis. We might even get many non members subscribing and maybe even joining the club if they happened to come across this great publication. You buy it...you print it at your cost and boom!...money in the bank!
I think that there are ways to get more cooperation from members of this club. We just have to make the effort to reach them and make them feel that their votes and ideas are worthy.
