Offered here is the winner's choice of either one of two different Stratosphere $4 Drop-Chips. This scan shows a representation of the chips.
I am trying to keep this contest objective (as opposed to the more subjective Caption Naming Contests) and not available via a Google search, as it levels the playing field to anyone that reads and posts here (sans a Troll) making fair to all.
This contest will close at 9:00 pm, (Mountain Time) Monday 26 January, 2009. All entries MUST appear as part of this thread, or a follow-on thread posted by me.
This is the challenge... Basically, guess the total miles on the odometer of my daily driver, a 1989 Honda Civic DX. By way of clues, I provide the following history. Bought in 1991 from a family member, the car was a daily driver in the Silicon Valley area from Cupertino to San Jose. I then used it as a daily driver in the Los Angeles area (West Hills to Canoga Park) until 1995. In 1995 it transitioned to Tucson, AZ (by me) and was used as a daily driver for a couple years from Sabino Canyon to the Tucson Airport area. In 1997 the car was loaned to my daughter who used both in Tucson for a while and then moved it to Encino, California for a couple of years. In 2005 the car was returned to me in Tucson and it sat un-used for 2 years when the engine was blown. Just over a year ago I had another engine put in and it is again my daily driver (Sabino Canyon/Airport).
While the odometer has rolled over once, it has not rolled over twice. Tomorrow night when I return to Tucson, I will be driving it home (from the airport) and then to/from work on Monday and that will set the mileage for this contest!
The fine print... As noted above, valid entries require a real name and a valid email addy. Please try not to post as a reply to someone elses entry, as this contest will permit changing your mind! In doing so, just re-post under your first entry with a new guess. The most current guess will be counted. Note also, any guess MUST be in the Title of the reply post.
Well, I think that covers it! Opps, one more tidbit, going over the mileage matters not, as this is a who ever comes the closest contest. If there is a tie, then the earliest post will win.
And lastly, an exact match will win BOTH chips!!!!! Use whole numbers only.
Lets have some fun!
Jim
