You should be able to go into your scanner/printer "properties" or "preferences" and change your settings there. The number of chips you plan to scan will dictate the file size so the more chips you plan to scan, the lower the setting on your scanner should be. I have mine set at 300.
If your computer allows you to scan large files, and you can actually open it with an editing program such as Microsoft Photo Editor you can right click on your saved picture file and open it with an editing program and resize your file that way as well (easier).
