Hey Rich, I have one. Looks to me like the red ring is not painted on in mine, it looks like it is under the original seal layer. There is some loss of the black as well. My guess is that the inks were fugitive or a bad chemical combo with sealer. The seal layer seems to be eroded as well. Maybe if the new chip had gone through the same conditions and wear, it would have happened to it too?
