Luckily, I am not living in Zimbabwe, only visiting the country once in a while. (I am staying in Namibia, which borders Zimbabwe). Last time I was there, the US$ stood at 700,000, a week later it was 1,000,000, and one still had to convert money (a small amount each day on the black market), as supermarkets etc. were only accepting Zimbabwe dollars. This is changing now.

The inflation rate is running at 10,000% a month, the 231 million% annual inflation is ancient history. 2 weeks ago the black market rate was 40 billion for one US$, last week it was 250 billion, and now rates are approaching 1 trillion for a single US$. However, you have to bear in mind that Zimbabwe has various exchange rates, including the official rate (which is 20 million - not billion - at the moment), the cash rate (for the scarce - ! - paper money) and the transfer rate (for transfers between bank accounts). Then there is also the Old Mutual Implied Rate, which is calculated by comparing the price of one Old Mutual share on the Harare Stock Exchange with the price of one Old Mutual share on the London or Johannesburg Stock Market.

Many shops have now been allowed to accept forex, and the Zimbabwe Dollar is rapidly being replaced by the US$, the Rand, and some regional currencies (like the Pula, Zambia Kwacha and Namibia Dollar). The problem is just that most Zimbabweans still receive their salaries in Zimbabwean Dollars! As there is no real use for the Zimdollar any more, no trust and no production in the country, and the Reserve Bank still prints money like crazy, the exchange rate has collapsed completely. Even my friends from Zimbabwe can´t tell me any more what the "real" exchange rate for the Zimdollar is.

To get back to your question: No, I do not have the trillion dollar notes yet. They are still too expensive! (I am not spending US$300 on a single note, only to watch its value falling 90% within the next few days). I guess you understand...
