When I originally heard the story I thought to myself, where is Saddam when you need him! Thinking about how elated the Iraqi people were when television showed statues of Saddam being pulled down with people rejoicing. How quickly they forget the 'great times' they had under Saddam. As far as I am concerned I think the matter should be left to the Iraqi courts to do what they feel is just (whatever that is). He was not a threat to the president, in that a thrown shoe has never been life threatening, but was in his culture a grand insult. We do the same thing here in different ways by hand gestures and etc. Bush realized that and joked about it. If what he did is a crime in Iraq then Iraq courts should handle it. Not us. Turn the tables, would you want Iraq telling our courts what to do? No, I think not. Maybe Bush should have throw his shoe back at him and been done with it.
I think it is about time we get out of everyone else's business and stop supporting the world, at least until we are respected.
