Jerry C has provided more studies which can shed lights on our own teens which compares teens in the same cultural setting than a general statement of comparing cross-cultural between muslims and christians, regarding John H statement I tend to agree that our christian and "democratic way of life" of upbringing is more mellowed and toned down.
In southern Philippines the muslims and christian can not see eye to eye - most of the incident of physical violence are from the M towards the C which support John Hanover.
Then in Judy W commentary which is isolated to her own sibling is true to a fact - they girl teens are more daring that the boys (personal experience in school where I teach, women students are more vocal in their feelings if they don't like the teachers 1 to 8 women - also as I can observed with my teen in-laws. I am more an economist than a psychologist but these study in the link are also being challenged with other researchs in other social teen behaviors. Judy is on the "money" when she wrote that - it is more on the "parenting", monitoring and controlling in the early part of growing up.

I think just being aware of the results of the study is enough for us, parents to sit back and take control of our own domain in the home and outside the school.
Thank you have a nice and a good day.
